Macie's 1st Birthday Party

What a fantastic way to celebrate your birthday. It's just too bad that people don't remember their first birthdays.

Macie just looked so adorable! Well, what's new! And she was a star in every way possible.

The food was great. Aside from the real food there was Buy the Bucket, Big Chill, F.I.C., Corndog, and Krispy Krepe all under one roof.

Then there was a magic show with a levitating girl. I've seen that done on TV lots of times but never did I think that I'd see it done right in front of me... and I'm still puzzling over how it was done. Ang galeng! Then Ate Pebs was even "chosen as a volunteer" to "chop" off the hand of Shobe. Of course, it was a trick, and she should actually have seen before hand how it would've been done, but she screamed on stage more than the kids in the audience did. Cute talaga ni Ate!

Then Regina kept winning prizes in all the games so that she started giving her prizes to Macie sa sobrang dami. Galeng talaga ni Ate Regina!

Another interesting thing: The whole family came in pink... but the winner for Best Strawberry Shortcake outfit was Kuya Ting Ting!

My super adorable niece celebrated her first birthday, but her real birthday is actually on May 26. It was a great party with a Strawberry Shortcake theme in Wack Wack. There were tons of balloons, the whole family was in pink, the food was great and the party was fun fun fun!

It started with Gymboree for the kids ages 4 and below. There were game booths on the side for the bigger kids and a jumping castle. It was so cool cause you could go fishing and catch real fish. Then, during merienda, there was a magic show. It was galeng. Hahaha. I was amazed even though I know how some of the tricks are done. Eventually, there were games for the bigger kids. The best part of the party though was the food. Imagine this, eat all you can Buy the Bucket, Big Chill, FIC, Krispy Krepe, Corndogs, Cream Cheese Burgers, Spaghetti, Barbecue and Pizzanini. Wow!!! Incredible!!!

Sunny Avilon Zoo

After being on hiatus for a week, the Sunday Club resumed with a bang. This time, it was at Avilon Zoo in Montalban Rizal on the hottest day of the year... a stifling 42 degrees Celsius... in the company of Ate Boom, Kuya Dondi, Kuya Ronnie, Bam, Regina, and myself. Although the heat was horrible (imagine a rosy-cheeked Caren, an even rosier Ate Boom, and Regina the rosiest of them all), it was a very interesting two-hour walking tour.

The ride going there was not very long. Just an hour without the traffic. Upon arrival, you pay an entrance and tour fee of P200, which motherly Ate Boom treated us all to. Since we arrived there at 12:00 we had lunch at their snack pavilion. You can buy food there (pretty reasonable prices for food that tastes ok) or opt to bring your own. The place is very clean, and so are the bathrooms.

At 1:00 we joined a two-hour walking tour of the whole zoo. We saw different kinds of birds (you cannot possibly remember all their names), turtles, snakes, crocodiles... There was a kind of bear called the sun bear that's from the family of Winnie the Pooh; three shetland ponies, one you can pet. We got to carry an eagle, an owl, this other bird that looks snowy - don't know what it was. We saw a leopard trying to hunt for prey, an urangutan that "appeared" with Kuya Ronnie's hands through the glass and another kind of monkey that copied his head movements. We saw some really cute and chubby gerbils, a peacock with its huge white tail spread open trying to attract its mate, some kind of carnivorous fish that went wild when Kuya Dondi threw the raw chicken pieces inside. It was also our first time to see a bobcat, a rodent the size of a labrador called the mountain rat, and two tigers mating.
