Disneyland Hong Kong

Now this was really fun! All thanks to Mama Vicky! We were 15 in all...

At 9:00 am, we assembled at the lobby of Marco Polo Gateway so that we can all gather together at our private bus. Mama Vicky hired one. And then began the 45-minute ride to Disneyland, which got Wappy and I really bouncy.

We were all like children again, except for Kuya Ting Ting who was always on the phone with his client. Macie was the most awestruck of us all. Not only was it a totally different place for her, she had all of us around to experience it.

We did everything we could to maximize the day. We rode the rides - Space Mountain (for the older kids), Winnie the Pooh, Buzz Astroblaster; we watched the shows - Golden Mickeys, The Disneyland Parade (which is so enjoyable), The Lion King (pinaka-pinaka-magaling of them all, plus we got VIP seats coz of Ate Char), Philharmagic (the 4D show), and the fireworks which are nothing like I've ever seen. We also took pictures with the characters, whoever we caught at the gazebos, standing by, and walking to their destinations - Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Winnie the Pooh, Alice, Mulan, etc.

The place was simply magical. It's just like the one in the States - Main street, Tomorrowland, Adventureland, and Fantasyland. And it still really brings out the child in you.

VP, Beadle and Shobe in Hong Kong

This one was definitely fun and different. This time, it was in Hong Kong, and Wappy and I were free to roam around... by ourselves.

January 22, Sunday

While checking into our hotel, Shobe came. It was like a grand reunion. She was like our sister for the whole day. More like Ate for 2 days. Thank God or Shobe! She helped us order our sorely missed Hong Kong Chinese food at Peking Garden. And then it was time to shop around.

Wappy, Shobe and I went around the streets of Canton, Nathan, Maudy, Hankow... basta those streets with all the shopping, then around Ocean Terminal. We looked so funny, so trigger happy with our kanya-kanyang cameras that we took pictures of anything and everything, including a group picture with some guy dressed as some character giving out leaflets.

At night, after walking all that and waiting for the Titas to decide to get up so we can walk to Arirang, we just sat in the room eating oreos. There was this issue pa kasi about a ballpen Tita Baby borrowed from Tita Nana that got left in the plane, and Tita Nana didn't want Mama Vicky to give her a new pen because she wanted that one. Finally, we walked to where we knew Arirang was only to find out that it transferred to the other end of Ocean Terminal. Loser! So we ended up having dinner at Marco Polo.

January 23, Monday

Spent another day, or should I say night with Shobe. This time at Causway Bay. But before that, we all had dinner at Chuk Yuen - Lobster with cheese - where they had this issue about bringing the rice with the food.

Since the Titas all wanted to go back to the hotel already, Wappy and I went with Shobe to Hong Kong side. First stop was Admiralty because Shobe had to get her stuff from the office. And as tourista as we could get, we found ourselves taking more pictures on the streets. Hong Kong is pretty by night.

Next stop was Shobe's apartment in Causeway Bay so she could drop her stuff. It's a nice and clean place. Pretty big for HK standards.

Then it was time to roam the streets of Causeway Bay. Since it was close to Chinese New Year, all the shops were open til late at night. We also saw this really cute husky being walked by its master. And then we had this sudden craving for ice cream. Annoying how Ben & Jerry's and Haagen Dazs were already closed at that time while Giordano and U2 were open til 12, so we ended up with those Haagen Dazs cups from the 7-Eleven nearby.

Since 12:20 was the last Subway ride, Wappy and I had to leave by 12:10 to get back to Kowloon. Ateng ate talaga si Shobe when she directed us on how to get home. Upon arrival at Kowloon, Wappy and I got out the wrong exit so we kinda ended up passing some dark deserted alley. Until we found our way into Canton Road.
