A Semi-Traditionally Whole Day Affair

It was tradition for Lola's birthday to be celebrated in a whole day affair. Lunch time would consist of a hen party for all the ka-mahjongs, with giveaways, virgin chi-chi, and, of course, an entire afternoon of mahjong. Dinner time would be just the family and would usually end in a sleepover at Forbes.

Since those days have long been gone, it was decided by Ninang Naña and Mama Vicky to bring back the good ol' days. Although it was a little less traditional it was still a whole day affair, with just the family, all that food, chi-chi, giveaways and, of course, mahjong.
It began with a mass at the cemetery, followed by lunch at Butterfly. Afterwhich commenced an afternoon-long game of mahjong for the Titas, poker for the boys, and art attack and baby shower decorating for the girls. It was one of those ideally lazy Sunday afternoons wherein people did just about anything they wanted and ate, well, pretty much anything they wanted.

Come evening, just before dinner, we surprised Ate Char with the baby shower. Poor Macie thought the party and the gifts were still for her when they were actually for her upcoming baby brother. But that's Ok. She had belated birthday gifts too.

After dinner, it was time to make fun of the boys, after all, it is a baby boy's shower. Thanks to the brilliance of Ate Pebs, we had a milk drinking contest. Except that the boys had to drink from a baby's bottle. What a hilarious sight. Imagine seven fully grown men (Kuya Mandy, Kuya Lito, Kuya Manolo, Kuya Nicky, Kuya Dondi, Kuya Nolette, and Wappy) drinking from a baby bottle. The winner... it was a tie between Kuya Mandy and Kuya Nicky.

There was another game in the form of tied hands, Carebears, and disposal diapers. This time, it was a couples' game, except for Kuya Dondi and Wappy who had to act brokeback for lack of any other participants. While each pair had one hand each tied together, they had to put the diaper on the Carebear with their remaining free hands. Of course, toddler parents Kuya and Ate Char won this one.

After some coffee, cake, and all that excitement, it was time to say good night. And giveaways... barong for the boys, massage GCs for the girls.

Mothers' Day

We went to again the ever faithful nail spa and then went to starbucks. Shocking news!!! Tita bam went to nail spa with us and did a hand cleaning!!! Who cares if it’s only hand cleaning at least she did something.

Since it's Mothers' Day, we couldn't possibly let the day go by without "a little" eating. So it was cousins treat at Peking Garden for all the mothers. If there's one thing we established that night, it's that you should never argue with the Chan family in Peking Garden in terms of the size of the food. We know our food!

168 then Southbay

Too bad, today was just a trio of Kuya Dondi, Bam, and myself. We paid what was supposed to be a short visit to 168 mall in Divisoria. They're paying taxes already but the stuff are still cheap. Harder to bargain with them now, though, but still cheap compared to buying stuff in Greenhills or Tiendesitas. Imagine a pack of 100 ponytails for P30, or invisible ink for P25.

And since the Pascuals had just arrived from the States, we paid them a short visit too. Poor Regina was dead to the world that she merely waved when we tried to wake her up and announce our arrival, then went back to her much needed sleep. Jet lag! So we spent the remainder of our time kwentuhan with Ate Boom and Kuya Mandy.
