The Longest Sunday Only Sunday Club

This Sunday Club extended into the evening and early morning editions on account of Labor Day the next day.

For the first time, Ate joined us in the afternoon. We went to EGG in Greenhills Promenade. It's cool because it's a gaming (XBox and PS2) place but Videoke style, meaning you can split the screen of the plasma TV so one group can do the videoke and another can play video games, but you're in the confines of a small room with surround sound and cozy couches. We played "Fatal Frame", it's about this girl who has this camera and walks all over the place and takes pictures of ghosts, which scared the heck out of us. Then of course, takaw ba naman ng Chan family, Ate treated to Brazilian fries since it was her first time in Promenade so it was sort of like a "blessing".

After a high carb dinner at Butterfly, evening edition naman. This time with Wappy. Along with Bam, we met up with Kuya Dondi and Jukka in Metrowalk then we drove around the Roxas, Macapagal, basta Manila area and kwentuhan lang in the car. Suddenly, the feeling started getting eerie and heavy, and kind of oppressive. Turns out we had just passed the Film Center. Kuya Dondi and all his pananakot... it was really not a very nice feeling. And since Kuya Dondi made us put up with it TWICE, he treated all of us to dimsum at the Golden Fortune in Binondo right after. Talk about busog at 1:00 am!

Holy Week In Baguio

In the Beginning...

This Baguio trip was most unusual. To begin with, when the Ligons and the Carloses arrived at the humble abode on 48 Gibraltar, there was a fire... due to tar that was being burned for the paving of the driveway. So we had no choice but to park the cars in the property of the Metrobank house, which has a pathway going to ours. Upon reaching the boundary of the house, we were welcomed by all the Titas hanging outside the house screaming at the people to put out the fire, and there were 2 firetrucks, an ABS-CBN van, and a motorcycle from the Presidential security. Big issue!

Changes...

But that was just the beginning. The rest of the trip proved pretty relaxing and, well, still pretty unusual.
1. To begin with, the driveway is no longer the ultimate off-roading experience.
2. A construction was going on for the rehabilitation of the house. Turns out our foundation is gone and we've been floating on air this entire time.
3. There are flowers (hydreangas, daisies, and snapdragons) in our front porch
4. We had a vast supply of wood for the fireplace, and
5. The living room was filled with toys, a sign that there's a baby in the house.

The Usual...

Boating in Burnham Park for Macie's benefit, walking on Session Road, and going to the market were just some of the indispensables of the trip.

First Times and Funny Stuff...

1. Other than that, it was interesting to have gone to Green Valley to see the view.
2. The Filling Station in John Hay was the favorite hangout this time. How can you resist Strawberries and ice cream the old Magnolia way!
3. When we weren't eating too much, the younger group spent time just talking and taking pictures in the garden.
4. We went to the anticipated Easter mass (which turned out to be a vigil) at the Country Club... nangatog kaming lahat sa lamig. So much for "this trip isn't cold".
5. We went with Macie to the Easter Egg Hunt in Country Club and unleashed our competitive skills just so our baby would win
6. We realized how truly enjoyable Cranium is.
7. It was funny how the house was instantly transformed into a gambling den - poker here, mahjong there.
8. Everyone had friends up in Baguio... even Macie.

All in all, it was a truly enjoyable Baguio experience!

Marikina Shoe Expo

One of those boring Sundays, Kuya Dondi, Kuya Wappy and I went to the Marikina Shoe Expo in Cubao. For plain locally made shoes, they are mighty expensive. What was nicer about that Sunday club though were the stores that sold either books or vintage stuff. We entered this one store that had old cameras and ads. They also had old phones, as in the ones you turn to dial. Then we entered a bookstore. It was very nice. Kuya Wap read Kuya Dondi and I a few poems.

For merienda, we had decadence in Bellini's, the Italian restaurant that can be found there. They also have very good food, mind you, but the dessert was great. The restaurant is very cozy, handpainted by the owner himself, Bellini. Duh!

Since Ate Caren was making kulit that she was home na, we went to pick her up and we went to Tiendesitas, which is right next to our village. We didn't do much except drink fresh fruit shakes and watch the dogs bark at each other, but it was really fun.
