Sunday, September 17, 2006The GREAT Chan FamilyToday was a gathering of the entire Chan Clan at what was the turnover of donations for the Professorial Chairs of our great lolos. There were four generations of Chans from three different branches. It was a mesmerizing sight to see.   Lunch was served, followed by Tito Tito's introduction of the ENTIRE family. It was a very long introduction. Then came the signing of documents per family with song numbers in between by a very powerful tenor. And of course, there was the mingling of sorts and numerous picture taking. (Click on images for larger view)    
Sunday, September 10, 2006Lola's 8th Birthday in Heaven Today is Lola's 8th birthday in Heaven so The Great Chan Family began the day with a mass at the cemetery in her memory. It's funny how the in-laws are the ones who are always chosen to do the readings and commentating. Useless cousins! Kidding aside, Ate Pebs would have been proud to have seen that Kuya Nicky was the commentator for this mass. That way, all the families were still properly represented - Maricris and Kuya Mandy for the readings, Regina for the Prayers of the Faithful, and the Carlos twins for the singing.  And then there was a bit of reminiscing on Tita Baby's and Kuya Manolo's part about the happy days when Lola would feed the entire family, tell us about her fairy tale love life with Lolo with much gusto, and how she raised us all to be the most loving of cousins, which is not at all common in other families.A hearty lunch of paella, lengua, potato salad, and buttered prawns followed at Butterfly. How can this family not have some sort of kainan?! Macie and Matteo were there, which had everyone jumping out of their seats to see the babies. Regina, very much of an Ate, was even caught letting Macie blow her nose. That was really cute!
